This position is directly responsible for all accounting, administration, and personnel functions for the U.S. company, with oversight responsibility for the financial functions of the three international subsidiaries. The position is full-time and reports directly to the CEO.
Management of the Finance Group, consisting of an accountant, a technical specialist, an AP/AR manager (located in Asia), an HR manager, and a part-time payroll manager. Dotted line management relationship with one other Finance Manager, located in India.
Ownership of the company’s financial systems: Sage 300 Accounting, Paylocity HR/Payroll, and the internally developed Project Control System, which includes modules for Customer and project management, invoice preparation and tracking, time tracking, employee expense reports, vendor invoice approvals and document management, sales forecasting, capacity planning & management, and other financial and administrative functions.
Preparation of the financial package for the monthly board meeting, consists of historical financial statements for all locations, with consolidation, forecasts, and actual vs forecast reporting, and various analysis reports. This responsibility includes review of account balances and necessary accruals and corrections.
Management of the company’s financial forecasting process
Financial analysis reporting; calculation and tracking of Key Performance Indicators, including client & work-type profitability.
Ownership/management of the company’s banking and financial relationships. Cash and investment management.
Annual close of books, including preparation of annual financial statements and detailed workpapers for all balance sheet accounts. Preparation of documentation needed by tax preparation firm; management of relationship with CPA firm. Coordination with CPA firm regarding tax forecasting for company owners.
Review of financial records and reports from the international offices
Design of financial/accounting processes for changing company activities and products
Oversite & design of human resource functions & routines including performance management, compensation analysis, working knowledge of applicable laws & regulations, etc.
Manage & administer certain company expenses and other administrative functions as needed, i.e., insurance, telecommunications, government contractor applications, etc.
Information for decision-making: Ensure that management has the information available to them to best aid in decision-making. The information should be timely, accurate, complete, and presented in such a way as to be most informative given the decision-making process.
Efficiency: Ensure that the financial systems are structured to best enable company employees to do the administrative/financial parts of their jobs easily and efficiently. Design finance/administrative processes to have as much automation as possible so that more staff is not required as the company grows.
Financial Control: Ensure that the company’s interests and its assets are protected, through accounting controls, policies, and reviews.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Experience working with financial systems
Proficiency in MS Excel at an advanced level
Financial analysis experience
Strong problem-solving skills
As much experience as possible in financial management
Experience in human resources practices, laws & regulations
Knowledge of applicable tax laws
